The Senior Accountant supports the Logan Heights Community Development Corporation (Logan Heights CDC) and LHCDC Holdings LLC, aiming to empower the Greater Logan Heights community through education, economic growth, and housing development. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, benefits, cash management, financial reporting, and payroll, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Management (50%)

Manage bookkeeping duties, including transactions, fund transfers, and accounting entries.
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
Ensure accurate program cost allocations and maintain accounting controls.
Generate monthly financial statements and special reports.
Correct accounting discrepancies per GAAP.

Reconciliation (10%)

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and maintain schedules for fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accounts receivable.
Resolve financial discrepancies.

Payroll/Benefits (10%)

Process semi-monthly payroll and record journal entries.

Financial Oversight (10%)

Monitor cash balances and funding sources.
Assist in budget development and compare actual performance to the budget.
Facilitate annual audits and maintain relationships with audit firms.
Prepare budget reports and manage vendor expenditures.

Compliance and Reporting (5%)

Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies.
Produce timely financial reports and update financial policies as needed.
Establish fraud prevention techniques.

Audit Coordination (15%)

Facilitate annual audits and coordinate audit activities.
Respond to audit requests and provide supporting documentation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Proof of vaccination required.
Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends for events.
Travel within San Diego County and beyond for conferences and training.
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
Tolerance to various noise levels.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; CPA or MBA is a plus.
Experience: 5-10 years in accounting or finance, preferably with non-profit organizations.

KEY SKILLS

Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in financial management and reporting.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
