The Role The Linux Engineer is responsible for all aspects of systems engineering and integration including requirements analysis, design, testing, implementation, and validation in an enterprise server environment. This position is the lead Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems engineer within the enterprise. Active TS/SCI security clearance required. The Main Responsibilities * Red Hat Enterprise Linux administrationand maintenance, including all applications hosted in RHEL.
* New RHEL systems installation, configuration, testing and integration.
* Lead technical projects through its entirety: research, conceptualization, feasibility assessment, design, procurement, lab test and evaluation, implementation planning, training, documentation, and transition to the operational environment.
* Create technical documents including test plans, test reports, implementation plans, and white papers.
* Server infrastructure analysis and improvement.
* Performance monitoring and optimization.
* Provide advanced Tier III support for geographically separated network operations centers.
* Ensure systems are within Information Assurance standards by testing and implementing security updates, conducting Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scans.
* Administer appliances, such as McAfee ePO, RSA, Veritas NetBackup, Unitrends Backup appliances,

* Understanding of balancing security risk, cost, and delivery requirements.
* Strong technical skills and understanding of information systems, network protocols, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, log management, network behavior analysis, vulnerability scan tools and processes.
* Ability to provide the proactive status of assigned work and ability to estimate the level of effort for future work.
* Understand patch compliance and system audit data.
* Strong Critical thinking and ability to work in collaborative environment with multiple disciplines.
* Previous experience in systems security and hardening plus. Technical Certifications * DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
