Job Title: Technical Manager



Location: Chicago IL



 



Position Summary



Subject Matter Expert (SME) in production equipment and utility systems, process technology, and plant operating practices

PSM/RMP program coordinator

Troubleshoot site Delta V process control system and Aspen IP.21 data historian including batch operations, EM management, and cyber security functionality (RSSC-L)

Champion of continuous improvement from project ideation through scope development and execution

Site representative for process design and new product scale-up activities.  Collaborate with R&D, Recipe Industrialization Engineer, Pilot Plant, and plant operations to drive new product from pilot to full production.

Additional tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager

This position has 1 Process Engineer, 1 Capital Engineer reporting.

10-20% travel

 



Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown:



Directly support production activities (50%)



Develop and maintain production procedures (BOPs) and the operator training program to support safe and efficient operations.

Build and maintain BOM’s and other relevant site SAP data.

Troubleshoot and resolve Delta V issues to support ongoing production.

Track production efficiency and capacity utilization, addressing trends as needed to stay on target.

Drive continuous improvement through OpEx and CAPEX project work.

Support shutdown planning activities and execute tasks as assigned.

Support site HES policy and comply with all regulatory and internal requirements including safety or environmental incident investigation and closure.

Support site ISO 9001:2015 program including ongoing QRA

Report quality kpi, monitor trends, and drive continuous improvement.

Support resolution of customer complaints in a timely manner.

Ensure alignment with RC 14001 program managed by the site QHES Manager and support integration of management systems where sensible.



Manage PSM / RMP Program (35%)



Ensure process safety information is accurate and complete, including mass and energy balances, design calculations for emergency relief equipment, and the list of critical interlocks.

Develop and maintain operating procedures.

Lead incident investigations using appropriate RCA tools and ensure implementation of effective corrective actions.

Facilitate PHA’s and Facility Siting studies, tracking action items through closure.

Manage MOC approval routing and track status of action items through closure.

Shared ownership of training plans, safe work permits, and emergency response plans with QHES Manager, and PSSR with Maintenance and Plant Engineer.



Personnel Management (15%)



Mentor and develop a team of production/process engineers.

Utilize HR tools to set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide feedback.

 



Minimum Qualifications and Education Required



Min Years of Experience



Minimum 10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment



Education and area of focus



B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering

Working knowledge of PSM, RMP, ISO, Responsible Care preferred

Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)

Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

Physical Demands/Working Conditions



 



This position is mostly office environment.

Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.

Will require frequent presence out in production or plant area.
