Our client, a leading manufacturing organization specializing in precision machining, is seeking a Machinist to join their dedicated team. As a Machinist, you will be an integral part of the manufacturing department supporting production and quality assurance teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title:
Machinist/Lathe Operator

Location: Dayton, OH

Pay Range:  $22-$26/hr Based on Experience

Shift: 10-hour day shift, with optional Saturday work and overtime opportunities

What's the Job?

  • Set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) lathes to perform various machining operations such as turning, boring, contouring, facing, and threading parts like castings, forgings, and bar stock.
  • Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to understand machining requirements and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Utilize metrology tools to inspect workpieces and verify dimensions meet quality standards.
  • Adjust machine settings and perform edits to pre-written programs under supervision to optimize performance.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and improve process efficiency.

What's Needed?

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with metrology instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and comparators.
  • Strong math skills, including understanding of geometry, trigonometry, fractions, and ratios.
