Our client, a leading manufacturing organization, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Technical Buyer to join their team for a direct hire position. As a Technical Buyer, you will be an integral part of the procurement department supporting manufacturing, production control, sales, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully within the organization.

Location: Lynchburg, VA

Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year

Shift: Day shift

What's the Job?

  • Create and distribute purchase orders for machined and casted components, ensuring timely processing and delivery.
  • Monitor purchase order status, adjust delivery dates as needed, and expedite or de-expedite orders to meet changing requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison between suppliers and the organization, providing support and resolving issues related to procurement.
  • Review usage history, current requirements, BOMs, and pricing to determine optimal purchase quantities and minimize costs.
  • Ensure purchase order confirmations are received, manage disposition of non-conforming parts, and coordinate with suppliers to address deviations and capacity constraints.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business or technical field; commitment to earning a related degree within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of purchasing and/or sourcing experience with machined and/or casted components.
  • Technical ability to read drawings and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of inventory, manufacturing, engineering, and financial systems; APICS or SCM certification is a plus.
