Job Summary
Responsible for providing administrative leadership and expertise to the Respiratory Care department. Develops and monitors appropriate indicators for quality and continuous improvement. Manages the operations of the departments including human resources, budget and finance, short and long-range planning, legal and regulatory compliance. Expected to effectively interview, hire, counsel, discipline, and when needed, terminate employees. Is responsible for providing professional and technical expertise. Has major responsibility for implementing the vision and mission, plan and standards of the organization within the departments. Accountable for the environment. Expected to contribute to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations and attainment of goals of the organization. May oversee employees who must utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients.
May be responsible for creating and evaluating existing processes in order to make improvements to specific department processes. Creates documents that explain changes and the implementation of processes. Conducts ongoing analysis to monitor and assess processes to ensure the desired outcome. Adjust improvements to reflect better results in targeted outcomes.
Qualifications
A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited, advanced-level respiratory program is required; minimum bachelor degree.
Must have five years experience as a Respiratory Therapist with demonstrated leadership skills. Must have knowledge of clinical practices, administrative, management, and finance principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are
essential.
Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in the state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Must obtain role specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc. within six months of hire into position and maintain credentials.
Current valid driver’s license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.
