Job Summary:
Provide direct supervision and coordination of department staff. Responsibilities to include staffing and hiring, orientation and training, competencies, performance management including annual evaluations and coaching, process improvement, patient experience enhancements, and direct clinical patient care as needed. The supervisor’s primary role will be to delegate tasks, coach, educate, support, and motivate front line staff.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Plans and directs workflow and daily operations to ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations in support of hospital goals and objectives. Manages staff, services, equipment to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
Serves as a professional resource to patients, families, physicians, and staff. Uses evidenced-based care standards throughout the nursing process and provides direct nursing care within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assists with prioritizing and resolving concerns and interpreting and enforcing hospital policies and standards, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance.
Coordinates activities of assigned unit(s) and provides day-to-day supervision of the nursing and support staff. Effectively identifies predictable problems, evaluates all available options and makes appropriate recommendations. Maintains accurate and timely written documentation.
Ensures staffing is adequate for provision of quality patient care. Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Serves as a clinical resource. Responds to patient emergencies, including codes.
Maintains a safe environment; ensures equipment problems or failures are addressed promptly. Coordinates the hospital response to internal and external disasters to ensure continuity of patient care.
Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of nursing protocols, standards of care, and related competency requirements.
Is responsible for coordinating, teaching, and ensuring staff are competent to perform the required duties.
Actively supports a positive workplace culture. Monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely feedback and performance management. Maintains effective employee and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and equitably.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in the Science of Nursing preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Minimum three years leadership experience preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Current RN license in the state of Washington
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire.
