The Scientist will have bench development experience in creating, reverse engineering, and, cost-reducing the following: savory and sweet seasonings, sauces, dressings, marinades, and, batter / breader systems. The role will apply scientific and technical knowledge of ingredients, flavors, and processes in the development of food products. Considerable independent judgment is required to carry out assessments that have a significant impact on services or programs.Description of Duties:Lead projects from ideation through finished product commercialization.Formulate, modify, and/or cost-reduce seasonings and food products/systems, based on project specifications.Solve technical problems essential to flavor development, food applications, and/or delivery systems.Replicate products, seasonings, and/or flavors that may already exist in the marketplace.Run basic analysis such as salts, moistures, pH, and granulations as needed on products being evaluated.Maintain accurate and organized notes, formulas, correspondence, and relevant data related to each project.Conduct sensory evaluations of project work.Regularly and actively participate in cross-discipline R&D and cross-functional business teams meetings.Possesses advanced knowledge of our customers
products/processes and applies this knowledge to project and cross-functional teams.Adept at writing and interpreting reports, research records, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Strong communication and presentation skills to present information, products, and/or ideas to stakeholders.Provides technical (scientific/analytical) expertise to internal and external customers.Develops Intellectual property ideas and contributions.Evaluate new ingredient sourcing, costing, qualifications, and specifications.Provide technical guidance to Jr. Scientists, technologists, technicians, and operations personnelStays current with new food trends, technology, and processes and recommends where appropriate.Support the Director of Culinary, as required.Essential Skills and Experience:B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related Applied Sciences7+ years
experience developing and formulating seasonings, sauces, batter / breaders, meat systems, or other related food industry development. Culinary experience is a plus.3+ years' Experience in meat science and commercialization in processing plants.High degree of proactive thinking, great organizational skills, strong communication, and presentation skills.High proficiency in Microsoft-based applications.Ability to quantitatively write and review technical procedures and regulations.Must be able to accurately taste and smell flavor profiles and food products.Must be able to mix and compound seasoning blends and flour bases.Self-directed, detail-oriented, extremely adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, delivering results while overcoming obstacles, and enjoying working in a fast-paced environment.Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
