The Inventory Assistant plays an integral role in the success of pharmacy operations. Receiving PO’s in a timely manner and accurately putting product to the correct bin location ensures patient safety, inventory accuracy, and exceptional customer service. The Inventory Assistant is responsible for unloading and breaking down pallets of product, sorting totes, and verifying all NDC’s against PO’s. They are expected to meet minimum production standards during put-away and must keep their work area clean and organized. Under the general supervision of the Inventory Manager or Inventory Leads, the Inventory Assistant maintains detailed records of received product and is required to report any overages/shortages/or miss-picks.
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm with rotational Saturdays. Mandatory OT as required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cycle counts when necessary.
- Verifies paperwork with total # of totes from DC. Identify and separate controlled substances.
- Unloads product from the truck.
- Verify NDC and quantity of each item and reconciles it against PO.
- File and maintain all DC receipts and paperwork.
- Use a handheld scanner application to scan, receive, and reconcile incoming product. Manually keying in received quantities.
- Assists with annual physical inventory.
- Apply mathematical reasoning: count, multiply, and calculate pack size.
- Log and report total put away lines per hour daily including total items received. Must monitor daily performance.
- Report errors from DC, such as miss-picks, shortages, overages, and damage.
- Performs weekly or monthly sweeps for short dated and expired product.
- Rotate product on shelves following the first-in, first-out method (FIFO).
- Complies with all appropriate policies including DSCSA
- Assist with reverse logistics credit returns program – maintaining records, preparing and scheduling shipments
- Follow proper safety procedures and maintain a clean and efficient workspace.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Systematic setup of new product in bin locations.
- Help Finance research and rectify out of sync variances as it relates to PO’s adjustments
- Assist with product recalls and quarantines
- Pack, sort, and ship prescriptions when production requires.
- Replenish product into cells for the Company’s automated machines.
- Adheres to and promotes the Company’s Shared I-CARE principles
- Follows federal and state laws regarding HIPAA and PHI
- Assist in any additional clerk/pharmacy technician duties.
Qualifications for the Position
Education/Training
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Business Experience
- Warehouse experience a plus
- Basic computer skills
- RF Scanner experience preferred
Specialized Knowledge/Skills
- Indiana Pharmacy Technician License or Tech in Training License preferred.
- Ability to read computer generated screens.
- Proper, business-orientated communication skills.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Strong organizational skills; keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills demonstrated to internal team members.
- Perform continuous and repetitive work.
Working Conditions
Environment (e.g., office, manufacturing, warehouse)
- General office and warehouse environment.
Physical Requirements (e.g., lifting, standing for extended periods, climbing)
- Able to select, lift, and carry objects (up to 20 – 25 lbs.) on a regular basis.
- Operate pallet jack, hand truck, or dolly.
- Safe operation of a box cutter to cut cases of product.
- Extensive walking and standing (8+ hours/day)
- Requires bending, twisting, reaching and grasping.
- Use of step ladder to reach product
