Location: Seward Office (Minneapolis)

Starting Pay: $55,068.00 Base salary with potential increases depending on education and experience; mileage reimbursement.

If you have experience working in Adult Foster Care with adults recovering from mental illness, Independent Living Skills (ILS), residential mental health treatment (IRTS), MI/CD services, or other mental health services, you may be ready to take the next step in your career as a Mental Health Counselor!


In this position you will: Work as part of a team to provide direct services and ongoing support to individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness at the drop-in center to help increase overall stability, improve health and wellness, and support the member's ability to live in the community. The CSP team assesses the individual's goals, provides and coordinates services, and helps foster an environment that promotes social support and recovery for members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide and coordinate CSP services utilizing a team approach to promote individual recovery and community integration.
  • Support client development, assess individual needs, provide crisis assistance, and monitor safety and appropriateness of drop-in center activities.
  • Assist clients with developing and progressing toward obtaining their stated goals.
  • Facilitate groups in conjunction with other team members to promote peer support and knowledge about managing the challenges of living with a mental illness in the community.
  • Assist in design and implementation of volunteer and vocational training opportunities to promote employment skills development and consumer involvement in program.
  • Communicate with clients' providers and others involved to provide referrals and coordinate care.
  • Provide housing support services including referrals, assistance with applications, appeals, and linkage to ongoing support services.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervisory meetings, and professional development trainings.
  • Document all relevant detail pertaining to client services in order to maintain quality.


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work/psychology or human services related field with two years of experience in related positions; at least one year includes experience in community based mental health with adults recovering from mental illness or combination of equivalent experience and training.
