Overview:

The Diabetes Educator plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive education and support to patients diagnosed with diabetes within the hospital and/or outpatient setting. This position involves collaborating with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized diabetes management plans, empowering patients to achieve optimal health outcomes and improve their quality of life.

 

Registered Dietitian Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Health Education, or related field.
  • Certification: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential required.

  • Experience: Clinical experience in diabetes management and education, preferably in a hospital or outpatient setting.

Registered Nurse Qualifications: 

  • Licensure: RN licensed in the state of practice.
  • Experience: 2-4 years current nursing experience with a strong background in diabetes education.
  • Preferred Education: BSN

  • Preferred Certifications: Certification by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators is preferred to obtain within 1-2 years.
