Position Summary: The Part 135 Chief Pilot is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance of our flight operations. This position requires an individual with exceptional leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of FAA regulations who will uphold the standards of Metrea's flight operations, pilot training, and safety procedures. The 135 Chief Pilot position is required by regulation under 14 CFR 119.69 and 119.71 to ensure the highest degree of safety in the operation. The 135 Chief Pilot’s primary role is to serve and support the pilot group operating under CFR 135 and Part 91. Essential Functions: Reports to the Director of Operations (DO).
Exercises Operational Control as authorized by the DO.
Must be highly knowledgeable in applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Company Manuals, and all related policies and procedures
Responsible for the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRD) process, in determining hiring eligibility for crew members. Responsible for, and has authority over, flight crew members employed by the company.
Acts as a liaison between crew members and other managers.
May plan and modify routes for company aircraft in 135 operations.
Responsible for the assignment and scheduling of all 135 pilots.
Maintain an adequate roster of properly qualified, current, and available pilots that meet company requirements at all times.
Ensures that no person is assigned or maintained as an active crew member unless that person meets the requirements and currency of CFR 91 and 135 and ensures that proper certification is included in each crew member's record prior to assignment.
Responsible for establishing a ground and flight training program for 91 and 135 crew members that meets or exceeds FAA and company requirements.
Ensure that each pilot assigned to flight duty meets the applicable requirements and that the certification for these requirements is maintained in the crew member’s record.
Monitor crew member currency and legality and remove any crew member from the schedule prior to the expiration of any applicable qualification requirement.
Prepare and distribute applicable crew member instructions, bulletins, and manual information.
Will serve as PIC in 91 and 135 operations, adhering to all applicable provisions and regulations.
Serve as company representative to clients and other outside entities.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: All pilots assigned to Part 91 and Part 135 operations. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma.
Current FAA Multi-Engine ATP pilot certificate
FAA Class I Medical Certificate
Beechcraft King Air 350 type rating
Flight time experience: total time of 3,000 hours of which 1,500 must be multiengine turbine time.
Must have 1,000 hours PIC of which 300 must be in the King Air 350 aircraft.
Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit
Possess a valid driver’s license
Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds
Ability to work extra hours when necessary
Able to secure a US Passport
Able to secure necessary VISA(s)
Must be able to complete training, drug testing, and, as needed, a medical examination in accordance with program requirements.
Demonstrated leadership experience and success in aviation operations, preferably with Part 135 operations.
Must be able to attain a DOD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications: FAR 135
International PIC flight experience
Work Environment: This role involves both office-based work and active flight operations. The candidate should be willing to travel as needed and be comfortable with the physical demands of the job. Special Position Requirements: Must be willing to undergo rigorous pre-employment checks, including but not limited to background checks, drug testing, and potential medical examinations. Ability to obtain necessary visas and a valid passport for international operations. Supervisory Responsibility This role has supervisory responsibilities.
