Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible to drive a fuel truck and deliver fuel and oil products to farm and commercial customers. They will perform their responsibilities in a manner that will optimize the cooperative's market share and savings, improve the cooperative's efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and provide outstanding customer service. The fuel truck driver will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the entire cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current operational knowledge of the fuel trucks located at assigned location and knowledge of applicable OSHA, State, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  2. Current operational knowledge of the equipment in the bulk petroleum plant.
  3. Good working knowledge of MSDS information on the petroleum product being handled.
  4. Commercial Driver's License (A) with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements.
  5. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  6. Computer and data entry skills.
  7. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  8. Ability to deal with emotional customers and help resolve complaints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Eye protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and/or face mask) required when handling petroleum and chemicals.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A high school degree or GED and 3 years experience driving a tanker with hazardous materials endorsement.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Deliver petroleum and oil products to rural and commercial customers in accordance with (job orders) delivery tickets.
  2. Operate and maintain fuel truck equipment properly and in accordance with manufacture's maintenance manuals and operator manuals. Report need for maintenance work or replacement of equipment to Petroleum Department Manager when necessary.
  3. Fill fuel truck properly in accordance with quality and safety standards.
  4. Report inventory needs to Operations Manager immediately.
  5. Fill out required DOT paperwork daily and maintain required paperwork in fuel truck.
  6. Inform Petroleum Department Manager of any new business opportunities
  7. Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and hello and thank them for their business. Work with your customers to resolve problems and report any possible misapplication problems to your Operations Manager.
  8. Ensure customers are informed of safe product handling.
  9. Actively work to increase personal knowledge and skills.
  10. Attend product, merchandising, and training meetings as requested.
  11. Maintain equipment at bulk petroleum plants and warehouses as assigned by Operations Manager.
  12. Ensure facilities and equipment meet federal, state, and OSHA regulations. Report any unsafe working conditions to Operations Manager.
  13. Maintain a clean and professional appearance for yourself and your equipment.
  14. Complete special projects assigned by Operations Manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job involves work inside a climate-controlled office atmosphere and outside in hot and cold weather.
