Job summary:

To plan, layout, rig, move, erect, and install more complex equipment and machinery, overhead cranes, heavy steel structures, sodium nitrate fumaces, etc., requiring extreme accuracy in aligning and balancing to insure maximum result with regards to safety of personnel and equipment.

Job Responsibility:

Moving of Machinery and Equipment

  • Studies blueprints, bill of material, sketches or specification sheet in order to determine layout for more complex types of equipment and machinery.
  • Makes floor layouts which include Iocation of attachment holes, and machinery and/or equipment location layouts on various assignments and for such moves which involve the re-location of an entire departmental section or a portion of a section.
  • Rigs and moves heavy, cumbersome machinery, and equipment as indicated.

Erecting

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, specifications and bill of materiel in order to plan the sequence of operations when erecting and fabricating components of acid, plating, and sodium nitrate tanks, cranes, hoists, metal stairways, steel balconies, heavy gauge steel racks, panitions, steel work platforms, steel beams for floor supports, etc. Installs wall fittings, brackets, etc., which are used for the attachment of heavy equipment or machinery.

Analyzing and Repair

  • Makes a thorough check of the operating mechanisms of cranes, overhead conveyors, hangar type doors, sodium nitrate furnaces, monorails, and chain falls, in order Io ascertain worn, defective and/or broken parts. Replaces all defective parts when necessary. Makes adjustments on cables and/or operating mechanisms.
  • Loads test cables, and monorail assembly using necessary weights and replaces if cables or component parts are found defective.
  • Builds structures and rigging as required, which are used in moving of more complex types of equipment and/or machinery.
  • Directs the work of lesser skilled employees in the performance of the above duties

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Candidate must have 5+ years of Millwright experience including Carpentry, ability to read blueprints, fabricating and/or sheetrock skill set, drop ceilings, and industrial painting (including offices) experience
  • Mechanical ability to repair a roll-up door is required.
  • Physical Demand- Continuous physical effon is required to operate equipment, load and unloading trucks and trailers, position trailers, etc
