Senior Trust Administrator

Salary Range: $73,500 - $98,000 annually

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Senior Trust Administrator is responsible for servicing and maintaining existing relationships with investment management clients, trust clients, beneficiaries, and other interested parties in partnership with the accounts' designated Trust Officer. The Senior Trust Administrator may serve as the lead relationship manager on their own book of business. This position is a leadership role.

Primary Accountabilities

People

  • Manages a team of professionals in a customer-centric culture to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coaches, develops, and conducts performance management activities with direct and indirect reports.
  • Identifies high-potential employees for advanced training and development opportunities.
  • Effectively manages poor performers.
  • May supervise a team of Trust Administrators or Client Associates.

Client Relationship and Trust Administration

  • Collaborates with the TrustOfficer to maintain up-to-date information on beneficiaries, and their changing needs and circumstances to carry out the Banks fiduciary duties and provide superior client service.
  • Recommends appropriate financial products and services tailored to meet clients objectives, tax and estate needs, risk tolerance, and asset allocations.
  • Serves as primary point of contact and relationship manager for an existing book of client accounts.
  • Identifies opportunities for cross-selling additional products to existing clients.
  • Develops and maintains a referral network of internal and external sources for additional sales opportunities.
  • Identifies and refers business to other areas within the Bank as appropriate.
  • Maintains contact with existing clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources to deliver agreed upon services, address customer inquiries and resolve servicing issues.
  • Interprets trust documents and client account agreements with an eye for detail.
  • Serves as a valuable member of the Trust Administration Committee.
  • Exercises judgment in processing client requests and make recommendations for fiduciary approvals above specified limits.
  • Strictly adheres to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Bank and regulatory standards.

Other

  • Represents the Bank in community activities and industry organizations to enhance the Banks image.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in trust administration.
  • 3 or more years previous experience in trust administration (advanced designations and/or preparatory work or guidance may sometimes be assessed in lieu of experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams with demonstrated success coaching and motivating team members.
  • Understanding of different investment products and allocation strategies for meeting client investment objectives.
  • Ability to read and interpret trust and legal documents.
  • Demonstrated success working in team environment.
  • Ability to meet time constraints without constant supervision.
  • Professionalism and courtesy in dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to articulate ideas concisely and work in a dynamic and fast past environment.
  • Proficiency with trust accounting systems.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others, interpret documents, and write reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
