Qualifications you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree; preference for marketing, sales, business administration or related field. Six (6) years experience in progressively responsible sales/account management positions, including three (3) years sales/account management and supervisory experience within a managed care organization, health insurance carrier, third party administrator or related industry. Equivalent combination of education and sales/account management experience will be considered.
  • Proven ability for meeting or exceeding sales activity and productivity goals and objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This includes both written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present in written proposal and public speaking formats. Ability to adapt personal style and communicate at all levels of staff within Preferred Care and customer organizations.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of managed health care and conventional insurance products including medical, dental, life, short-term disability, long-term disability, and tax deductible and other employee benefit programs. Must possess a broad understanding of alternative health plan funding mechanisms and of health care financing and rating methodologies.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, formulates strategy, and makes decisions using data and good business judgment.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop and document a comprehensive business plan designed to achieve goals and objectives for growth in commercial accounts and membership, Medicare-eligible membership, and growth in revenue from the sale of ancillary products. Participate in the development and establishment of departmental and individual sales goals and objectives.
  • Develop and document a comprehensive sales process plan designed to achieve goals and objectives for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of new business sales and renewal account management. This includes participating in the development of sales metrics, goals and objectives.
  • Develop and oversee an operating budget for renewal account management including evaluation, recommendation, and planning for approved staffing, training, technology, and other resources necessary to support sales and sales/account service process plans.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, direct, and motivate sales staff to meet or exceed sales and sales process goals and objectives and to exceed customer expectations for new business sales and renewal account management.
  • Provide active day-to-day personal supervision and support to sales staff in the performance of their job duties and responsibilities. This includes participation in account call planning and preparation, product positioning, strategy development and decision making, joint account calls and sales presentations, assurance of ancillary product offerings, account specific problem solving and professional counseling and coaching.
  • Ensure the capture and appropriate storage of complete and accurate prospective account and renewal account management records. Collect, analyze, and report on sales plan and sales/account service process activity and results as scheduled and required.
  • Function as or assign a sales department representative for interdepartmental meetings and participation in cross-functional projects
  • Maintain and communicate knowledge of current industry trends, local market and competitive intelligence, and customer, organizational, product, and departmental business.
  • Provide administrative, management, and supervisory back-up for other sales management staff in their absence. Arrange for same back-up during own personal absences.
