Overview:

NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Jail Based Treatment Program that operates as a 30-bed adult specialized behavioral health unit at Washoe County Detention Facility in Reno, NV.

The RN will be responsible for providing routine nursing care including assessments, medication administration, and nursing interventions for the JBTP unit. The RN has a separate, fully equipped nursing room on the JBTP unit with its own work station in addition to access to the off-unit office. The ideal candidate has experience as a Psychiatric RN, in a mental health or correctional setting, and in working within a multidisciplinary team.

The Jail-Based Treatment Program (JBTP) provides specialized behavioral health services for patients awaiting transfer to a state hospital for further psychiatric treatment. The unit is a therapeutic environment, providing intensive day treatment services. By providing patient-centered, evidenced-based, and holistic care, the JBTP seeks to eliminate the need for these patients to transfer to the state hospital or, at a minimum, to decrease their length of stay once hospitalized. The ultimate aim is to assist defendants in moving forward with their legal case and with their lives in a healthier place.

NaphCare is partnered with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to provide this program, which is supported by the SNAMHS and funded through the NV-DHHS Division of Public and Behavioral Health.

The Psychiatric RN will work with a team of psychiatric providers, mental health clinicians, recreational therapist, discharge planner, and data coordinator led and supported by a program director.
