Nashoba Learning Group (NLG) is hiring a licensed Physical Therapist with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience to work in a supportive and dynamic work environment providing consultative, school-based, physical therapy services to students in our school program (ages 3-22). The schedule for this position can be negotiated and this position can be paid as a salaried employee (benefits eligible) or hourly contractor.

*Job Title:* Physical Therapist

*Position Summary*: The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing consultative services to the students in the Nashoba Learning Group School across a full calendar year.

*Responsibilities: *
Staff hired in the Physical Therapist position are responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

o Consulting to a case load of up to 45 students/members

o Conducting monthly consults to teachers/therapist and clinical staff (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) regarding PT Programs.

o Developing IEP objectives in collaboration with the clinical staff on each student’s case

o Conducting annual evaluations

o Conducting PT related trainings, can occur before, during or after program hours

o Reporting to work promptly:

? Bedford School Location: 8:30am and remaining at work until 3:30pm (unless their responsibilities require them to come in earlier or stay later, which will occasionally occur).

? Billerica School Location: 8:15am and remaining at work until 3:15pm (unless their responsibilities require them to come in earlier or stay later, which will occasionally occur).

o Following NLG’s emergency procedures (administering First Aid, CPR or restraints), whenever needed.

o Reporting any clinical issues that arise to that specific student’s Clinical Director and reporting to the Assistant Program Director, Program Administrator or Executive Director for administrative issues.

o Physical Therapists are responsible for attending the following monthly meetings:

? *The PT Meeting*: held monthly (not on a set schedule)

? *The All Staff Meeting*: the first Friday of every month at 8:00am

*Qualifications:*

Staff in the Physical Therapist position need to have:

o A master’s degree in Physical Therapy

o MA license in Physical Therapy

o Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the field

o At least two references that will attest to the Physical Therapists interpersonal skills, energy, work ethic, commitment to providing optimal education to children with autism, a love for children in general, their ability to work on a team, leadership skills, integrity, ability to accept and learn from feedback.

o Training in Strategies for Limiting Violent Episodes (SOLVE), First Aid and CPR. Classes to obtain these qualifications will be provided by NLG. The SOLVE introduction course (16-20 hours) will be provided during orientation and then a 1.5 hour refresher course will be held annually.

o Satisfactory results for new hire and recurring background and CORI checks.

o A driver’s license in good standing.

*Physical Job Capabilities:*

Physical Job Requirements of this job include:

· Physically capable of keeping students safe and in close proximity at all times, particularly during outings

· Safely implement crisis prevention techniques and restraining students 50 pounds up to and in excess of 125 pounds when necessary

Physical Movements Required for Safe Implementation of crisis prevention techniques:

· Quick and abrupt movements of upper and lower body (moving quickly, brisk and vigorous use of hands and arms)

· Rotating upper torso movements

· Arm and hand movements to grasp, range of motion movement with upper body and arms

· Balance

· Lifting and lowering (bending at knees repeatedly)

· Prolonged duration of exertion with both upper and lower body, being in one position for periods of time
