Our customer-focused teams are built on our core values: Community, Integrity, Agile, and Committed.SUMMARY:The Pre-Sales Design Engineer will be responsible for analyzing project specifications and driving customer SOWs, discussions, and other documentation to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for national multi-site deployments, single-site buildouts, and maintenance programs. This position is responsible for providing the best possible solution that fits the customer needs and is looked at as the product expert for all technical questions. PRIMARY DUTIES include but not limited to: -- Engage with internal and external customers as the product expert and as an integral part of the sales process.-- Develop and engineer assigned customers' scopes of work by coordinating with sales team members, assisting with New Era Technology meetings both internally and externally as needed and participating in the respective project kick-off meetings for assigned work.-- Manage multiple tasks related to assigned customers with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner with accuracy.-- Review data to determine material and labor requirements for assigned projects.-- Develop Statements of Work and Bill of Materials for assigned projects: work with internal purchasing department and manufacturers for lowest cost pricing, compute cost factors and prepare estimates for management purposes, preparing bids, selecting vendors/subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.-- Consult with assigned internal customers, vendors, sales, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues for assigned customer projects.-- Assist Operations personnel with understanding agreements and bid figures for assigned projects.COMPETENCIES:-- The ability to fluidly discuss cabling infrastructure, IT and other technology solutions of New Era-- Working experience of Cisco networking (CCNA) would be desirable.-- Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word-- Well versed in Excel including formatting and formula creation.-- Technology offers with Sales and customers who have a wide range of knowledge and experience.-- Consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion-- Problem solving focus and approachREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:-- 2+ years of pre-sales engineering experience that is customer facing and 5+ years' experience in cabling infrastructure or technology related fields, estimating, design or engineering.-- Experience in related industry, or equivalent, in the capacity of large-scale projects or national deployments required.-- Experience designing, configuring, and engineering of infrastructure, data networks.PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:-- Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Physical Security, Wireless, Voice and related IT Services.-- Knowledge and ability to apply for manufacturer deal registrations-- ability to work with existing New Era Technology Product Manufacturer Account Managers and SEs-- Past Manufacturer Relationships of current New Era Technology Product Portfolio a plus -- BICSI, CNCI, CompTIA, or other manufacture specific certifications-- Avigilon, Genetec, Brivo, Hanwha, Cisco, Extreme, Fortinet, Juniper, Aruba, HP and Lenel Certifications are a plus -- CAD, Visio, other drawing software experienceEXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full time position, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, plus overtime if needed.TRAVEL: Travel could be up to 20% dependent on customer needsLANGUAGE SKILLS: EnglishQUALIFICATIONS: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
