This individual will be passionate about technical delivery and operations and therefore a keen technical understanding of architecture principals, product, security, engineering SDLC, APIs and the engineering function overall is paramount for this role’s success. Additionally, the role will support leaders in developing a clear future state vision and operations across Field Practice Management Engineering (FPME), liaise, and collaborate with Engineering leaders, Office of the CTO (OCTO), Product, and other relevant stakeholders. This role reports directly to the Chief of Staff and Head of Field Operations, Strategy & Planning for FPME.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the teams establish a clear and coherent delivery strategy on each functional area within FPME, in partnership with FPME leads, product partners, and stakeholders.
  • Support FPME leads to operationalize processes, streamline operations, and improve overall technical delivery. Ensures FPME, and dependencies enforce to delivery timelines and accountabilities.
  • Drive technical delivery & operational excellence by identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes, and implementing standard methodologies to improve operational efficiency and delivery. (i.e. Statements of Work, Vendor Management, etc.)
  • Support the delivery leads on architectural standards and patterns that are required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 4-5 years professional experience
  • Ability to lead in times of uncertainty or ambiguity and become agent of change
  • Experience supporting technical teams with proven knowledge of solution delivery processes and standard methodologies.
  • Must have experience with JIRA / JIRA Align, budget management, resource prioritization and estimation of project effort.
  • Strong technical, written, analytical and verbal skills
  • Ability to balance problems across technical teams
  • Experience in Release and/or Change Management
  • Sound logical thinking, strong analytical reasoning and proven troubleshooting skills

Pay Range - Start:

$82,670.00

Pay Range - End:

$153,530.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
