Omitron, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in our Colorado Springs, CO office. This person will be part of the SOLACE software development team, producing key astrodynamics applications used to support the US Space Force's Space Situational Awareness and Space Domain Awareness mission areas. These applications will generally replicate and modernize existing legacy applications. This software project will require the implementation of an AGILE development approach. This position will require candidates to be in our offices HYBRID-to-FULL TIME as necessary for project success. Responsibilities:
* Create software in line with the language, style, and functionality set by the SOLACE Lead Engineer.
* Produce software on time in accordance with the program schedule as set by the SOLACE Product Owner.
* Implement modern software authoring techniques for integrated testing, code management (GIT), and a Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
* Interpret legacy astrodynamics software source code selected for modernization under the SOLACE effort. Legacy applications may contain code written in C, FORTRAN, MATLAB, or other languages.
* Interact with senior engineers for both SOLACE and the legacy application projects.
* Perform performance and comparative result assessments for SOLACE applications.
* Perform code reviews for junior software engineers to ensure software integrity and suitability.
* Participate in paired programming sessions with SOLACE developers to increase shared team competencies.Minimum Requirements:
* Security Clearance Required: None, but candidates must be willing to be submitted for a US Government security clearance
* Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4 years of experience in technical software development and/or astrodynamics engineering
* Functional knowledge of at least one of the following software languages: Java, C++, Fortran
* Clear written and verbal communications
* Passion for creating innovative solutions in a narrow field of operations * Ability to multitask and identify opportunities for process improvement
* Be a self-starter with excellent time-management and problem-solving abilitiesPreferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a related field with 4 or more years of experience consisting of both software development and astrodynamics engineering
* Functional experience in one or more of the following software languages: Java, C++, Fortran, UI development, backend development, AWS technologies
* Knowledge of one of more legacy code languages: C, FORTRAN, MATLAB, Shell Scripting
* Experience creating, maintaining, or operating astrodynamics software
