One Federal Solution is seeking a talented Copy Editor to support a potential Federal Client. The Copy Editor will work with manuscripts prepared by noted subject matter experts and collaborate with design and video teams to produce publications, posters, articles, graphics, and videos. The role involves refining and editing texts, ensuring overall content quality across various output formats including traditional print publications, web content, social media posts, and other formats as they arise. Key Responsibilities: Refine and edit texts to ensure correct grammar, punctuation, style, and format.
Evaluate documents for purpose, audience, scope, content, organization, and logic.
Ensure documents are balanced, methodically expressed, and adhere to their objectives.
Coordinate changes with originators to produce necessary revisions and recommendations.
Work collaboratively with graphic designers, illustrators, photo editors, and other content professionals to shape content for maximum effectiveness.
Participate in the revision process to ensure materials align with DOS policy goals and objectives.
Collaborate via Trello or other production platforms as required.
Edit print and digital publications intended for global audiences, including pamphlets, posters, magazines, and books.
Evaluate and approve concept papers and tables of contents to align with Bureau-identified messaging and target audiences.
Review and approve graphic design recommendations on image selection, placement, and overall look and feel.
Ensure editorial staff meets established deadlines, multitasking to manage multiple projects with varying timelines.
Manage time and prioritize tasks to meet fluctuating schedules and deadlines.
Anticipate and adapt to new technologies, working collaboratively with other content producers specializing in different content forms. Requirements: 4-10 years of experience in copy editing, preferably with government or DOS experience.
Comprehensive understanding of recognized style manuals, including The Chicago Manual of Style, MLA Style Manual, and the Associated Press Stylebook.
Ability to work with minimal supervision from the chief editor.
Strong multitasking and time management skills.
Excellent collaborative skills for working with diverse content production teams.
Ability to work flextime due to irregular business hours, performing editing tasks in collaboration with writers, graphic designers, illustrators, and photo editors. Preferred Qualifications: Government or Department of State (DOS) experience
