Summary

OneMain Financial is seeking a passionate ServiceNow ITOM Admin to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a strong background in software development and IT operations, eager to deepen their expertise in ServiceNow and IT Operations Management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your technical skills to design, implement, and maintain ServiceNow solutions focused on Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Asset Management and Integrations.

 

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align our ServiceNow platform with organizational objectives, driving efficiency and innovation. Your problem-solving abilities, proactive learning attitude, and adaptability will be key to your success in this position.

Target base salary range is $85k - $125k, which is based on various factors including skills, work experience, and location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program that is based on individual and company performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Platform Strategy and Development

  • Develop and deploy ITOM solutions on the ServiceNow platform, enhancing IT operations and asset management through effective use of CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Integrations, etc.

  • Create automation scripts and tools within ServiceNow to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Participate in system upgrades, patches, and maintenance to ensure the stability and optimal performance of the ServiceNow platform.

 

Technical Expertise and Innovation

  • Define, create, and manage ServiceNow Discovery schedules to ensure accurate and reliable data collection for the CMDB.

  • Develop procedures to review Discovery logs, identify and resolve issues, and maintain the health and integrity of the CMDB.

  • Collaborate with application teams to create and maintain Service Maps, accurately reflecting the relationships between business services and underlying IT infrastructure.

  • Build and manage integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using APIs, middleware, or custom scripts to facilitate seamless data exchange.

  • Apply understanding of servers (Windows, UNIX/Linux), databases, networking, and cloud services to optimize CMDB Inventory and network scans.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with IT infrastructure, application development, security, and compliance teams to gather requirements and deliver effective ServiceNow ITOM solutions.

  • Articulate the importance of configuration management and the role of the CMDB to various stakeholders, fostering understanding and alignment.

  • Interface with ServiceNow support and external vendors to resolve technical issues and stay abreast of new features and industry trends.

 

Compliance and Security

  • Guarantee that all ServiceNow processes and data management practices comply with internal policies and external regulations such as PCI, PII, GDPR, and SOX.

  • Establish robust access controls and security protocols within ServiceNow to safeguard sensitive data and maintain system integrity.

  • Keep comprehensive records of configurations, customizations, integrations, and operational procedures to support compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing.

 

Performance Optimization

  • Oversee the performance and health of ServiceNow ITOM modules, utilizing monitoring tools to detect and address performance anomalies.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical challenges related to CMDB accuracy, Discovery errors, Service Mapping discrepancies, and system integrations.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance platform performance, efficiency, and user satisfaction.

 

Continuous Learning and Development

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to ServiceNow and IT Operations Management.

  • Participate in training, workshops, and certification programs to deepen technical knowledge.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning by sharing insights and best practices with colleagues and team members.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

  • 7+ years in IT, including systems administration, software development, automation, and networking.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, C# or similar, with experience in frameworks like .NET being advantageous.

  • Demonstrated passion for learning new technologies, particularly ServiceNow, and applying them effectively.

 

Technical Skills

  • 2 - 3 years Foundational understanding of the ServiceNow platform with a strong desire to develop expertise in ITOM modules like CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping.

  • Experience with Windows and/or UNIX/Linux servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.

  • Understanding of networking concepts, VoIP technologies, and communication protocols.

  • Ability to develop automation scripts and tools to streamline tasks and enhance efficiency.

  • Knowledge of SQL databases, database architectures, and data modeling.

  • Competence in integrating systems using APIs, web services, or middleware technologies.

 

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate across cross-functional groups.

  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and practices.
