Open Systems Technologies Corporation is looking for Software Developer to join our team on the Advana project for the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on ensuring 508 compliance in software development, contributing to the creation of accessible and user-friendly applications that meet federal standards. Responsibilities * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement software solutions that adhere to Section 508 compliance standards.
* Conduct thorough accessibility assessments of existing applications and recommend improvements to enhance usability for individuals with disabilities.
* Develop and maintain documentation related to 508 compliance processes, including testing protocols and accessibility reports.
* Utilize coding best practices and frameworks to create accessible web applications, ensuring compatibility with assistive technologies.
* Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure adherence to accessibility guidelines.
* Stay updated on the latest trends and regulations regarding 508 compliance and accessibility standards.
* Assist in training and educating team members on accessibility best practices and compliance requirements. Required Skills: * Clearance: Secret
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. * Proven experience in software development, with a focus on web applications. * Strong understanding of Section 508 compliance and WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). * Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and familiarity with frameworks like React or Angular. * Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, Axe) and methodologies. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred Skills: * Experience working on government projects, particularly within the DoD. Preferably with Advana. * Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. * Knowledge of user experience (UX) design principles.
