For all managed database systems, DISA's key goals are maximizing system availability for use by user communities and prevention of any user data loss. Deploy various methods and tools toward this purpose to include both standard enterprise tool suites and tools specific to the customers unique application requirements. The Candidate shall support availability and data protection of managed database systems by the performance of tasks. Database Backup. Candidate shall implement and configure backup methodologies for any managed database system component potentially restorable from backup per standard backup procedures and/or system unique backup standards. Database Backup Monitoring. Candidate shall monitor daily all backup job logs or reports to identify any failures or issues impacting capability to restore any managed database component or associated data. For any observed failures, Candidate shall initiate an incident ticket and track ticket to resolution resulting in successful backups and achieving full recoverability. Candidate shall engage with storage, system administration, and enterprise backup technicians to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve all backup failures and issues. Candidate shall execute manual backup procedures as workarounds to produce valid backups until automated process or tool issues are resolved. Database Backup and Recovery Testing and Verification. Candidate shall perform tasks and activities related to test and verification that backup and recovery strategies, methods, and processes for managed systems are effective in returning managed systems to fully restore operational status or restoration of full system data. Database Recovery. In response to system incidents, failures, or other issues, Candidate shall execute the recovery or re-installation of all database system components in order to meet or exceed the recovery time (RTO) or recovery point (RPO) objectives specified in the system's service level agreement (SLA). Data Recovery. In response to system incidents, data corruption, or other data integrity issues, Candidate shall execute either full or point-in-time data recovery to managed databases to fully restore data availability or system to fully operational state in order to meet or exceed the recovery time (RTO) or recovery point (RPO) objectives specified in the system's service level agreement (SLA). Application Restoration. In response to incidents, failures, or issues at the higher application level, Candidate shall perform functions to restore database components or data to assist application or system administrators in returning systems to a fully operational state. Data Replication. For managed database systems, Candidate shall implement and configure data replication schemes for managed systems to ensure data redundancy, alternate site processing capability, and system/data recoverability are continuously operational. Candidate shall continuously monitor implemented replication schemes to ensure data replication is occurring in accordance with (IAW) Service Level Agreements (SLA) and recoverability targets for RPO and RTO. For any issue or defect in data replication, Candidate shall perform analysis and troubleshooting leading to resolution and return to normal data replication operations, while adhering to notification and reporting requirements per Incident Management policies and procedures. Database Integration Support. Candidate shall perform, throughout implementation and ongoing sustainment lifecycle of the master application, integration of databases with their master applications. Application Releases and Upgrades. Candidate shall install or apply the database portion of any application upgrades or new releases, software version upgrades, or other system changes as appropriately coordinated and approved by the DISA change management process. Data Manipulation Script Execution. Candidate shall execute any database manipulation language (DML) or database definition language (DDL) scripts or packages as appropriately coordinated and approved per DISA's change management process. Database Integration with Application. Candidate shall perform integration support throughout the lifecycle of managed databases with its master application in order to promote the overall performance, reliability, usability, functionality, and stability of the application. Database Performance Tuning. In response to database or application performance issue or incident, Candidate shall perform tuning services to optimize the performance of the database individually or to the database as integrated to its master application. Candidate shall perform analysis and troubleshooting of application or database performance artifacts or metrics to identify root cause and ultimate resolution as well as future prevention of database or application performance issues.
