POSITION DETAILSJOB PURPOSEThe primary focus of this position is to support growth in business development through application development expertise in flavor selection and evaluation to demonstrate the FP value proposition to customers as well as identify new opportunities for the portfolio. Serve as a technical resource and advisor to flavor creation, sales, and customers.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop prototype finished product formulae and optimize flavor inclusion (application level and tonality) in a wide range of products to include, but not limited to, sports and nutritional beverages, confectionary, bakery, carbonates, alcoholic beverages, snack seasonings, dairy products.Specify, source, and maintain inventory of raw materials required for development of prototypes.Prepare Technical Bulletins to provide recommendations and guidance for flavor inclusion.Preparation, labeling, and correct storage of samples.Stock rotation of application ingredients.Coordinate typing of sample advice with assembly, packaging, and UPS shipping. Advise Account Managers of any problem with meeting the shipping date entered for the project.Filing of documentation with accurate and concise record retention.Information sourcing and retrieval. Data entry in Sage software.Laboratory good housekeeping to include cleanliness of work area, correct handling, and disposal of flammable materials, etc.Allergen awareness, handling procedure, and concise labeling.Understand specific flavor requirements to meet consumer expectations e.g., Vegan, non-GMO, Halal, Organic, etc.Regulatory and compliance awareness.Prepare presentations for IFT, Trade Shows, Account Managers, and Clients. On-site and limited travel within the United States.Member of QC organoleptic evaluation panel.Design and equip applications laboratories for new R&D facility.Participate in R&D taste panels, flavor modification and optimization.Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONSLaboratory environment in a chemical manufacturing facility.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDDirect report to R&D ManagerSUPERVISION EXERCISEDN/ADIRECT REPORTSN/AQUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS1 - 3years of relevant experience working in the food and beverage industry.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSAs above with salary consideration based on level of applicable experience.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field.PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSAs above.REQUIREDSKILLSStrong interpersonal, written/verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and follow through. General knowledge of food safety requirements and stability for finished product development. Broad understanding of flavor characteristics.
