Department Overview

PG&E’s Business Finance team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the company.  This support includes but is not limited to financial analysis, budgeting, planning and forecasting, monitoring, performance metric reporting and analysis.  These services are critical to achieving the company’s strategic, operational and financial objectives.

 

Position Summary

The successful candidate will serve as the Senior Manager - Engineering, Planning, and Strategy Business Finance, supporting the Enterprise Service Delivery organization.  As a colleague of the Business Finance leadership team, you will help define and achieve the team's strategic objectives. You will be responsible for developing the team’s expertise and driving a culture that encourages and rewards thought leadership, critical thinking, high-quality work, ethics, efficiency, action, accountability, collegiality and safety.

In this role, you will serve as a business partner focal for all finance and accounting, including planning, budget, forecasting, tools, and optimization analysis. You will integrate with the client organization and become a trusted financial and strategic thought leader balancing and utilizing their functional expertise, intellectual curiosity, ethics, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain integrative relationships and ensure best in class decision support and recommendation.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately once per week or more, depending on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $144,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $244,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as a consultant to management on operational performance management tools and measurement. Works closely with peer managers, other departments outside of Business Finance, and the leadership team on the assessment of value-creating improvements, including the identification of cost drivers and the determination of yield on process improvements (measurement methods).
  • Partners with functional area senior leadership to analyze business and financial information in order to determine recommendations through scenario analyses involving workplan prioritization, regulatory considerations, future funding requirements, enterprise KPIs, operating forecasts, and resource constraints, among others.
  • Builds and then manages a team of high-performance professionals including Managers and Associate, Career, Senior, and Expert Business Finance Analysts.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills to attract, motivate, and retain creative, highly trained team members.
  • Develops and implements analytical techniques to gain insights on operational results and contemplated strategic initiatives.
  • empowers the functional areas supported with fact-based insights into every facet of business decision making.

  • Ensures that business transactions are captured to yield actionable business results. Consults with peer managers, other departments outside Business Finance and LOB leadership to ensure plans are focused to the desired result.???????
  • Process improvements, including root cause analyses.
  • Provides advice and counsel to Officers, Directors, and managers, as needed.
  • Provides expert financial advice and policy interpretation on all levels of financial activity within the organization and its programs.
  • Provides financial training to business partners as needed.
  • Responsible and accountable for developing appropriate sophisticated forecasting models for the programs supported.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations based on key performance indicators.
  • Serves as the senior lead and primary contact for all finance and accounting, operational performance, and budget and forecasting inquiries for the Enterprise Service Delivery functional area.
  • Understands utility accounting fundamentals and the PG&E cost model to consult on issues.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years leading and developing teams
  • Minimum of 4 years of analytical experience (business, mathematics, statistics, engineering - based)

 

Desired:

 

  • Master’s degree in business administration or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience, 5 years
  • CPA-Certified Public Accountant certification
  • CFA-Certified Financial Analyst certification
