At Plains, it all starts with strong leadership, and we are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a vacancy in our Sarnia plant, one of Canada’s largest fractionation facilities. In this role, you will report to the Supervisor, Operations, and lead a team of operators working a regular 12-hour 24/7 shift rotation. In addition, you will be part of an integral group of leaders at the facility and a champion of our Process Safety Management program. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant day-to-day operations.
Permanent residency within 120 km of the Sarnia facility is a condition of employment, and you must be able to work a regular 12-hour shift rotation.

Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring for personnel.
- Participate in change management communication and contribute to change management initiatives.
- Demonstrate competency in the execution and evaluation of all operational tasks performed on shift.
- Performing Shift Engineer responsibilities.
- Assist in managing operations and maintenance budgets.
- Manage the hiring, orientation, performance, and career development needs of employees.
- Maintain the operation of the facility within regulatory parameters.
- Prioritize maintenance activities and execute any necessary corrective actions.
- Communicate planned and unplanned outages as required.
- Ensure safety and environment requirements are met.
- Support facility turnarounds by ensuring work is identified and integrated into the overall project schedule, scope, and budget.
- Ensure activities are performed without safety or environmental incidents; provide resources throughout projects as required.
- Promote customer satisfaction through understanding of and focus on customer needs.
- Assist the Sarnia Management Team in planning and engineering meetings.
- Ensure key decisions and key messages are cascaded to the workforce as agreed to by the management teams.
Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in industrial oil and gas and / or chemical or mining operations and maintenance
- Experience as a supervisor, leading and engaging team members, is considered an asset
- Strong commitment to safety
- Power Engineering, trades certification, or equivalent experience considered an asset
- Experience managing in a union environment considered an asset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to operate plant-specific machinery
- Proven ability to learn and lead teams during periods of change
- Permanent residency within a 120 km radius of Plains’ Sarnia facility
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
- Compliance with the Company’s requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE #Plains
