Responsibilities
Install, update, troubleshoot, monitor, optimize and maintain system(s)/server(s) and associated configurations.
Install and maintain application software in accordance with established standards.
Verify functional operation of HICS in accordance with current System Operational Verification Test (SOVT).
Check system hardware availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning, disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.
Deploy/install HICS tasks/services to the approved sites, on Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES). This includes, but is not limited to:
Installation pre-planning and communication with install points of contact.
Following all the approved Navy procedures (including Technical Specification TS9090-310G Change 1) and performing tasks for ship installation approval, including Quality Management System (QMS), SHIPMAIN process, Regional Maintenance and Modernization Coordination Office (RMMCO) process, Navy Data Environment (NDE) process, etc.
Following the HICS installation guides and checklists.
Communicating with ship personnel and other appropriate points of contact.
Acquire, set up and configure hardware/software and perform software debugging, as necessary.
Ship appropriate hardware/software.
Test hardware/software.
Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
Notify the HICS Program Manager/Project Manager and/or designated representative of systems degradations or issues.
Complete After Action Reports (AAR) for all abnormal operations or other required reporting for system incidents.
Develop and document HICS systems administration standard operating procedures and comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
Maintain the knowledge management applications (i.e. SharePoint, Dimensions, etc.).
Design group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and needs.
Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment per HICS Access Control Plan.
Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
Monitor scheduled backups and restore files (server baselines), as requested.
Assure compliance with existing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and environmental standards. Qualifications
Must have 3+ years of experience and knowledge of the following:
Familiarity with shipboard CANES or legacy afloat networks. Experience installing software on CANES networks is a PLUS
Prior experience as a Navy Information Systems Technician or Data Systems Technician with afloat experience is a significant PLUS
IAM-II Level Certification (baseline Security+ or substitutes per DoD 8570.01-M)
Technical experience managing or performing software engineering activities;
Knowledge of design and implementation of computer and database management systems;
Experience with one or more programming languages; and
Experience in Microsoft development tools, analysis, development, maintenance, and testing.
Ability to travel frequently and work independently.
Place of Performance: Remote in Norfolk VA, with 50% - 75% travel to U.S. Navy Fleet CONUS and OCONUS locations to deploy software.
