Job Summary

    The Strategic Business Lead is responsible for leading the identification, evaluation, development, and implementation of new Specialty Products opportunities. This position provides leadership, consultation, facilitation, insight, and analytic support to develop and deliver high priority initiatives that are critical to Specialty Products growth goals. This individual is accountable for assessing internal and external resources/opportunities, as well as gathering and synthesizing data to make sound business recommendations to senior leaders in support of our corporate strategy. In collaboration with senior executives, this individual works with cross-functional teams to advance complex large-scale projects from strategy to implementation.

    The Strategic Business Lead will demonstrate strong leadership, business acumen, problem solving and collaboration to develop and coordinate strategy, prioritize deliverables, and implement key initiatives with a variety of teams, including internal and external partners. This role requires deep experience evaluating market opportunities, devising market entry strategies, and leading complex work streams across multiple functions within the organization.

     

    In addition, the role will support Commercial Division leadership by driving key strategic initiatives to capitalize on new product and service opportunities.

    Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

    • Leverage experience leading new opportunity funnel from ideation to evaluation to strategy development to implementation for key Specialty Products initiatives.
    • Engage with business leaders and with key areas of the business to forge relationships and understand the challenges and strategic goals.
    • Build a pipeline of ideas, manage the pipeline, and prioritize the pipeline through criteria that ensures alignment to the strategic goals and desired focus areas.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation by understanding problems, needs, and ideas from the business, the customers (employers, providers, brokers), and the members (consumers).
    • Consult with business leadership, evaluate market, conduct discovery interviews with key internal and external constituents to define market entry strategy.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis, synthesize findings, and make recommendations related to key product features, value proposition, and roll-out.
    • Explore vendors and technologies in the market that could provide a solution or component of a solution, and make build, buy, partner recommendations.
    • Lead partner evaluation and selection. Coordinate third party support. Support contract negotiation and execution.
    • Lead business needs assessment, capability assessment, and business case development
    • Design, develop, and assess financial implications of strategic solutions through quantitative and financial modeling (e.g., cost/benefit, ROI, etc.).
    • Jointly, with the business leadership, pitch prioritized ideas to senior executives to secure approval and funding.
    • Manage large cross functional project teams including internal and external constituents.
    • Lead all facets of implementation planning and execution including conducting QA testing to ensure product is go-to-market ready upon launch.
    • Oversee reporting and communication of project milestones, including leading Steering Committee meetings, core team meetings and key stakeholder discussions.
    • Work in a collaborative way with key stakeholders and leadership to ensure key timelines are met with minimal disruption to the organization.
    • Identify appropriate solutions and alternatives to potential obstacles.
    • Propose and create buy-in to tracking mechanisms to measure effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
    • Partner with Commercial business to identify innovative new product and service solution strategy.

    Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    • BA/BS degree.
    • MBA strongly preferred.

     

    EXPERIENCE (minimum years required):

    • 8 to 10 years of experience in progressive consultative and advisory positions.

     

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Knowledge of the health plan industry and its customers
    • Knowledge of Commercial employer benefits programs
    • Expertise in strategy, planning, and business development
    • Proven track record of working effectively with people and processes at multiple levels, both internal and external to the organization.
    • Exceptional communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Demonstrated skills in partnering effectively with enterprise resources as well as vendor/consultant management.
    • Superior analytic and research skills with experience in analyzing data to forecast outcomes and drive decision making.
    • Strong business acumen
    • Demonstrated execution of complex projects to profitable outcomes
    • Advanced MS Office knowledge (MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word)

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
    • Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
    • This position functions in a fast-paced environment, meeting multiple demands and deadlines.
    • May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
