We have clinics on Bloomington Road and Neil Street in Champaign and school-based clinics in Urbana and Rantoul.

Promise is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to providing affordable and accessible high-quality health care services to the medically underserved of greater Champaign County. Our facilities are designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) that qualify for federal loan repayment programs as well as the IDPH loan repayment program. Promise Healthcare is looking for a full-time Mental Health Counselor to join our health center. Promise Healthcare provides primary medical care and behavioral health services and has on-site dental services.

This position will provide child, adolescent and mental health counseling to individuals, groups, couples or families. Interviews patients and their families to coordinate and plan programs and activities to meet their social and emotional needs and collaborates with primary medical, psychiatry and oral health care providers to deliver integrated care for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives referrals and assesses mental health needs of patients.
Provides direct counseling to patients in a timely manner.
Consumer therapy plans drafted, and consumer outcomes measured.
Maintains records in an electronic health record related to counseling, collaboration, and all patient contact, in keeping with requirements of funding sources and completed in a timely manner.
Makes referrals for specialized services and tracks progress.
Collaborates with medical and social services providers regarding patients' emotional and psychological needs.
Advocates for improved services for patients with mental health needs.
Helps to design and structure an effective mental health program within Promise Healthcare.
Maintains scheduling capabilities to ensure adequate patient access to appointments.
Stay current with continuing education and licensing.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of local medical and social service systems.
Strong documentation skills and comfort in an electronic health record.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a clinic setting.
Clinical skills to facilitate client sessions and social groups.
Must have valid driver's license, insurance, and transportation to other clinics as needed.
Ability and willingness to work competently across a wide domain of therapeutic modalities.
Above average level of interest in working with people including disadvantaged populations.
Ability to work in situations involving a high level of contact with others.
Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions and to utilize appropriate problem-solving strategies.
Ability to adhere to assigned professional code of ethics.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

The applicant must possess a Master's Degree, and be a Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Licensed Clinical Social Worker or License Clinical Professional Counselor preferred.

Language: Supplemental pay for being bilingual in English and Spanish.
