Pronto Insurance is one of the fastest growing general agencies in South Texas and is now a member of Gallagher, a worldwide expert in risk management solutions. Our first agency was founded in 1997 and the Managing General Agency operations commenced in 2005. Pronto has evolved in the insurance market through its captive agencies, independent agents, and franchise locations. Today, Pronto has over 200 captive locations in Texas and California. PHP Website Administrator – Level 1

Location: Brownsville, TX, must self relocate

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Core Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in PHP: Strong understanding of PHP syntax, functions, and frameworks (e.g., Laravel, CodeIgniter).
  • Database Management: Experience with MySQL or MariaDB, including query optimization and backup strategies.
  • Front-End Basics: Solid grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
  • Server Administration: Familiarity with Apache/Nginx, Linux command line, and hosting environments (webmin, cPanel, Plesk, etc.).
  • Version Control: Knowledge of Git for code management and collaboration.

Security & Performance

  • Security Best Practices: Implementing measures against SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, and managing SSL certificates.
  • Performance Optimization: Caching strategies, image compression, and minimizing load times.
  • Monitoring Tools: Use of tools like Pingdom, Dynatrace, or custom logging for performance and uptime tracking.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Bug Fixing & Debugging: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly using tools like Xdebug or browser dev tools.
  • Content Updates: Managing CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Joomla) and updating site content as needed.
  • Backup & Recovery: Regular backups and disaster recovery planning.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Team Coordination: Working with designers, developers, and content teams to align on updates and improvements.
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation for processes, configurations, and updates.
  • User Support: Handling internal or external user queries related to website functionality.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field – OR –Equivalent professional experience demonstrating strong technical proficiency in PHP development, website administration, and server management.
  • Work Experience:
  • 1–2 years of hands-on experience managing PHP-based websites, including server configuration, database administration, and security implementation.
  • Certifications (Optional but Preferred):
  • Zend Certified PHP Engineer
  • CompTIA Server+ or Linux+
  • MySQL Database Administrator Certification

Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
