Job Title: Mechanical Designer


Science, Engineering, Management Solutions LLC (Sem-Sol) is a small business in Albuquerque, NM on the forefront of science and industry. Our skilled scientists, engineers and technicians specialize in directed energy and pulsed power systems and use innovative technology to develop innovative solutions for a range of Department of Defense agencies and commercial industries.


Sem-Sol is seeking a mechanical designer who can create challenging, novel, and dynamic solutions for aerospace and mechanical engineering systems that reflect consideration for budgeting and operational constraints. We need a high-energy self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. But, no man (or woman) is an island, and we won t leave you stranded. You ll be working as part of a team, so we will rely on your excellent communication skills. Because our projects are so diverse and our needs constantly evolving, our ideal candidate is willing to expand into technical areas without prior experience. Duties will include:

Conceptualize and create mechanical designs using 2- and 3-D computerized software.


Support system components' designs to provide installation and detail documentation.
Support initial and ongoing internal and customer design reviews.


Review drawing documentation using critical analysis and provide suggestions for enhancement and correction of errors.


Required Qualifications:


3+ years experience in an engineering designer and/or drafter role.


Ability to conceptualize and produce computer automated designs.


Some experience with configuration control of documents.


Experience with CAD software and drafting procedures.


Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks with changing priorities and interruptions.


Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.


Desired Skills/Experience/Qualifications:


At least 2,000 hours of SolidWorks/PDM experience, including detail and assembly design, incorporating fit, form, and functionality of designs.


Drafting to ANSI Standard Y14.5.
