Schedule:
EMT Security Officer schedules are 12-hour shifts 7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM

Valid West Virginia / Kentucky EMT certification is required for EMT roles

JOB SUMMARY
Administers first aid treatment and arranges for transport of sick or injured persons to a medical facility while working as a member of an emergency medical team. Provides protective services by making periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Duties include the essential function of providing Emergency Medical Technician services as designated by client contract. May be assigned a service grade or rank in a chain of command in conformance with contract requirements or to facilitate the delivery of service, according to business necessity.

All duties must be carried out in an honest, ethical, and professional manner and in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies, employees are required to request clarification from supervisors or authorized company representatives.
Essential Duties
- Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury, or the magnitude of a catastrophe, to establish appropriate first aid procedures or determine the need for additional assistance, based on statements of involved persons, examination of victims, and knowledge of emergency medical practices.
- Administers prescribed first aid treatment at the site of the emergency or in a specially equipped vehicle, including application of splints, administration of oxygen, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, and administration of artificial resuscitation.
- Communicates with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange for reception of victims.
- Controls access to the client site or facility through the admittance process; assists visitors with legitimate entry needs; screens visitors and client employees efficiently to expedite admittance.
- Provides a professional atmosphere in which client employees and visitors feel that their needs are acknowledged and addressed; interacts courteously and respectfully; presents a positive image of the client and its security department.
- Communicates in an open, honest, and responsive manner; provides authorized information regarding the site and surrounding area upon request.
- Monitors entrances and exits; prevents unauthorized or unlawful entry; controls movement of people and vehicles and parking; operates gates; examines vehicle contents; monitors remote entrances via CCTV; operates remote access devices; calmly directs disruptive individuals to leave the property.
- Patrols assigned site on foot or in a vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear.
- Protects evidence or incident scenes during accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; establishes barriers and signage; provides direction or information as needed.
- Prepares logs and reports as required; writes or enters reports using standard grammar; inspects security control logs and takes required action.
- Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel, or public safety authorities as appropriate.
- Responds to fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, inclement weather, and other site-specific incidents per established procedures; performs EMT-related duties; assists in removal of victims and provides instruction to others as needed.
- Ensures property removal is conducted according to policy and client standards; identifies client products or materials carried by employees or visitors.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending on the nature of the position.
Minimum Hiring Standards
- Valid EMT certification is required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a reliable means of communication (pager or phone)
- Must have reliable transportation (public or private)
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED; if not, must be willing to complete a GED program within six months
- Must be willing to participate in the company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screening and background investigation

- Ability to meet and maintain all applicable state, county, and municipal certification requirements for EMT-Basic (EMT-1)
- Ability to meet and maintain all applicable licensing requirements for Security Officers
