The primary responsibility of the Global Accounting CoE is to serve as the global accounting subject matter experts. Members of the CoE obtain an understanding of current company-wide accounting policies, ensure the Company’s processes adhere to those accounting policies and operationalize accounting with a focus on standardization and efficiency. Accounting areas covered by the Accounting CoE are revenue, accounts receivable, cash, inventory, accounts payable, long-lived assets and intercompany. This position will gain a broad exposure to Company processes related to revenue, accounts receivable and rebates. The position requires the ability to manage multiple on-going initiatives, several of which may be project based and across different stakeholders. There will be exposure to various cross functional teams including Global Reporting, Accounting Policy, Controllership, Sherwin Business Services (SBS) and Commercial Finance.
This position is not hybrid/remote and will be located at our Global Headquarters in Cleveland, OH.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Build a strong working knowledge of the Company’s revenue, accounts receivable and rebate processes and related US GAAP guidance (ASC 606 and 326). Support the preparation and maintenance of process documentation and flowcharts for revenue, account receivable and rebate process streams. Assist with documenting procedures, assumptions, and standardization efforts to help ensure consistent and accurate accounting across the organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Global Reporting, Accounting Policy, Controllership, SBS, and Commercial Finance.
Perform various recurring tasks including, but not limited to the following:
Customer price audit sampling and testing
Documentation of key accounting considerations within company contracts, such as those with customers
Facilitate the creation, distribution and aggregation of results from certain accounting questionnaires
Assist with reviewing accounts receivable and rebate account reconciliations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
Assist with process documentation efforts across various functions by developing and maintaining flowcharts, standard procedures, and accounting assumptions. Ensure global consistency and update related global accounting policies.
Be willing to assist with special projects and initiatives within the Accounting CoE which may or may not be related to revenue, accounts receivable and rebates with a focus on being a business partner to others across the organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree with Major in Accounting or Finance
Preferred:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or candidate in the process of sitting for CPA exam
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Microsoft Office experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred:
- Public accounting experience, particularly Big 4
