Overview Information Technology (IT) professionals with experience in Section 508, W3C, and/or WCAG Accessibility assessments, remediation, and testing.  Supporting federal agencies to define the future of its information technology (IT) as it pertains to accessibility and usability. Provide guidance and knowledge to ensure websites, software, and all environments meet Section 508 standards. Responsibilities The 508 Tester is responsible for managing test scripts and testing guidance for the 508 program. Working with development teams to establish areas that need to be addressed to ensure accessibility and usability of the IT to support individuals with disabilities. Direct and participate in all phases of risk management assessments and software/hardware development with emphasis on analysis of user requirements, test design, and test tools selection Applies advanced test quality methods, theories, and research techniques Responsible for testing and maintaining web-based custom applications Provides application software testing services Develops test plans and documents results Tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications Analyzes requirements and maintains, tests and integrates application components Ensures test strategy is successfully implemented Conduct internal and external website and Application Testing/Remediation. Use testing software and/or test scripts and guidelines Provide feedback to customers on the testing results and remediation options. Interface with Program Management Offices on test results and potential solutions Required Skills
Qualifications Experience testing electronic documents (PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for Section 508 compliance. Experience and knowledge of Section 508 requirements for IT software and hardware Familiarity with Federal Government accessibility testing. Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. Knowledge of HTML semantics/tagging, hyperlink integrity, and remediation of Section 508 accessibility issues a plus. Shows initiative to not only support, but also to improve the organization. Demonstrate collaborative behavior and a “team-first” attitude. Required Experience Bachelor’s degree 5+ years of experience with IT Accessibility, Section 508 compliance, software development, software implementation, or a related field. Experience with compliance testing and evaluation of tools and best practices. Desired Skills
