About the Job:

The Supervisor of Patient Access ensures that Patient Access staff provide superior service excellence and promote the Elliot Experience to all who access the Elliot Health System. The Supervisor schedules, leads and mentors Patient Access staff to obtain accurate and timely patient information enabling efficient patient care and appropriate hospital reimbursement.

What You'll Do:

  • Schedules staff for all shifts to ensure adequate coverage, adjusts as necessary to accommodate patient volume.
  • Collaborates with clinical leadership in respective areas to meet the needs of the patients as well as the organization.
  • Trouble-shoots process and / or system issues; obtains resolution or escalates as appropriate.
  • Greets and registers patients as needed.
  • Provides feedback to staff on goal attainment relative to collections and registration quality.
  • Develops goals and holds staff accountable.
  • Mentors and coaches staff.
  • Addresses staff performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conducts staff meetings and regular one on one meetings with staff members.
  • Interviews new hires in conjunction with Manager.
  • Assists in the development of registration policies and procedures.
  • Maintains superior knowledge of EMTALA, CMS guidelines, and third-party payer requirements.
  • Ensures staff obtain signed consent and collect appropriate payment amount at time of service.
  • Supervises activities and personnel in all assigned areas.
  • Provides orientation and training to new hires, completing necessary competency/orientation checklists.
  • Ensures new employees are trained in all aspects of their job including excellent customer service.
  • Performs annual appraisals and approves timecards.
  • Verifies that the safe contents are accurate and all monies are accounted
  • Responsible to keep superiors informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of registration experience required. Previous leadership experience required.
  • Knowledge: General knowledge of hiring, disciplinary, and evaluation requirements, minimally required. Knowledge of registration requirements/computer skills, minimally required.
  • Skills: Good judgement and problem solving skills, minimally required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, minimally required.
  • Abilities: Ability to work independently and take initiative, minimally required. Ability to develop and implement new processes, minimally required.

Work Shift:

40 hours per week, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
