  • A hospital in Southern Idaho is in need of a Med-Surg RN to start ASAP! The nurse will need to have a minimum of 2 years of Med-Surg/Tele experience. The shifts are 12 hour shifts.

  • EPIC experience is helpful.
    Schedule Information
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours, 7-7.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 3 in a 6 week schedule.
  • Holiday Requirement: As needed if there is a need.
  • Floating Requirements: Float to like units- CPU (Medsurg unit-stroke/neuro, cardiac pts recovering after cath lab) and Surgical Unit.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Sepsis, respiratory failure, chest pain, pneumonia, CKD, CHF, behavioral patients, dementia, postop surgical overflow- choles, appys, never get total joints.
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge Nurse and only takes a one patient assignment in times of high census. Additionally, we have a Team Lead. Their first priority is to our LPNs but they then help resource the floor. Our facility also has an Admin. Supervisor on staff 24/7.
  • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: CNA’s are at 1:8-10 ratio.

  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 based on acuity.
  • Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1 year experience, EPIC experience is helpful.
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips: No
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: heparin, octreotide
  • RT Equipment: We have an RT department that supports our nursing staff and patients with all RT equipment- will see high flow, home regimen CPAP and BiPAP.
  • Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Centralized telemetry team for our facility. We do not require our travel nurses to read telemetry strips- charge or lead will read strips. Currently using Space Labs and will be moving to Phillips this year.
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Navy Blue
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: We provide 2 shifts of orientation, can extend if needed.
  • Use Team model staffing: 1 charge, 1 lead (first responsibility is helping LPNs with tasks/duties outside of their scope and then floating floor to help staff), 1 admit/discharge nurse. Staff, including travelers are supported by the Manager, 2 Assistant Nurse Managers, and a Unit Based Educator. Leadership is on call 24/7. We use Teams and shift huddles to share new information and education. Very teamwork focused- everyone helping with call lights, etc.
  • This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles. To ensure adherence to this rule, we will require the candidates' perm address in the submittal to confirm they are outside of that specified radius before proceeding with the profile review.
