Summary

While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision, and values this key position is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. The RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desire patient outcomes. This is an at-will position.

Job Duties

Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to; administering treatments and medications in compliance with the physician’s orders and applicable hospital policy, interpreting diagnostic tests, assessing and reassessing patients and formulating a plan of care.
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to Nurse Manager, co-workers and physicians.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups.
Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s statue, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs in relation to age.
Must document/chart observations and other data related to the clinical condition of the patient.
Communicate report to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with the medical center policy.
Supervise and Delegate tasks to CNA and other staff as needed for patient care.
Attend department and other facility meetings as required by hospital policy.
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding both in hospital and post discharge needs.
Documentation meets current standards and policies.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection prevention and control standards.
Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned and needs arise.

Additional

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Able to use stethoscope and respond to verbal questions.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information printed sources and computer screen.
Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighting up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Adequate physician ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite healthcare service, including injections. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids.

Experience & Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing program.
Active Wyoming licensure
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
Current ACLS Certification-Or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Current PALS Certification- Or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Current NRP Certification- Or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Computer literate; experience with Meditech a plus.
Utilization of an automatic medication dispensing system helpful.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.91 - $49.38 per hour
