We are looking for a qualified Collections Specialist to join our team. Texas Air Products offers a competitive salary and a pleasant, comfortable work environment. The Collection Specialist is a full-time position. The starting pay range is $21.63 - $25.50 hourly depending on experience. TAP currently offers an exceptional benefits package (listed below).


Job Summary

The Collection Specialist is responsible for handling the collections process including inbound/outbound calls of customers, processing and application of payments accurately and timely, and researching and resolving customer related requests and issues. The candidate will strike a balance between maintaining trustful relationships and ensuring timely payments. The candidate will exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness, have excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and time management skills, as well as an ability to work independently. The candidate will report to the Credit and Collections Manager.

Collection Specialist Responsibilities

  • Monthly reporting to direct supervisor
  • Monthly Statements and Notices of Intent to Lien
  • High volume phone calls to assigned delinquent customers
  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances
  • Provide excellent & considerate customer service
  • Internal and External customer interface
  • Meet defined department goals and activity metrics
  • Responsible for managing the collection and correspondence efforts for designated accounts.
  • Process customer payments accurately and timely, process customer refunds, review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments, small balance write off, and customer reconciliations.
  • Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.
  • Research customer inquiries/requests for lien waivers and prepare necessary legal documentation.
  • Monthly preparation and mailing of Intent to Lien documentation
  • Prepare and organize daily receipt of invoices and acknowledgements
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable and Credit & Collection Department.
  • Enlist the efforts of the Credit & Collections manager, sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
  • Must communicate & follow up effectively with Credit & Collections manager and sales department regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers and sales.


Requirements:

Collection Specialist Knowledge and Skills requirements

  • Associates / Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred
  • High school diploma required
  • Three to five years commercial construction collections experience preferred
  • Five years corporate credit and collections experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Billing and Collections policies, practices and procedures
  • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Skilled in negotiation
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Patience and ability to manage stress
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong experience in ERP system
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
