Intake Attorney
Overview
We are seeking an Intake Attorney to join our Personal Injury firm and work closely with our Intake and Marketing teams to evaluate, vet, and convert potential new cases. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants to continue using their legal training and judgment—but is less interested in actively managing a caseload or litigating matters.
The Intake Attorney plays a critical role at the front door of the firm: identifying strong cases, setting appropriate expectations with potential clients, and ensuring that quality matters are accepted and transitioned smoothly to the legal team.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate potential personal injury cases during the intake process to determine legal viability, value, and fit for the firm
- Conduct attorney-level intake calls with prospective clients, including complex or high-value matters
- Explain legal concepts clearly and empathetically to potential clients, helping them understand next steps and building trust in the firm
- Collaborate closely with intake specialists to provide guidance, feedback, and training on issue-spotting and case quality
- Set realistic expectations for potential clients regarding liability, damages, timing, and process
- Ensure proper documentation and handoff of accepted cases to the litigation or pre-litigation teams
What This Role Is Not
- This position does not involve actively managing cases, appearing in court, or handling litigation responsibilities
- The Intake Attorney does not carry a traditional caseload
- This role is focused on front-end evaluation, communication, and conversion, not day-to-day case work
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the state bar (or eligibility for licensure, depending on jurisdiction)
- Prior experience in personal injury law strongly preferred (plaintiff-side experience a plus)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills—both written and verbal
- Strong legal judgment and issue-spotting abilities
- Comfort speaking with people during stressful or emotional moments
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally with non-attorney staff
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is perfect for an attorney who:
- Enjoys client interaction and legal analysis
- Prefers high-level judgment and communication over managing deadlines, discovery, and court appearances
- Takes pride in being a gatekeeper for quality cases
- Wants a more predictable workflow while still meaningfully using their law degree
- Values teamwork and contributing to firm-wide success
- Has experience working on personal injury cases – MVA, Premises, Dog bite, Medical Malpractice
