Description The Structural Analysis Engineer is responsible for interpreting engineering CAD drawings and models to establish material properties to be used in analysis by using CAD FEA tools (e.g., NASTRAN) to analyze multiple load cases, vibration, or transient analysis; and examines linear and nonlinear behavior of materials, joints, and geometry for metals and non-metals, and determines design stresses. Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION : * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experience in Structural Engineering; * Knowledge of preloaded joint analysis methodology for spaceflight systems is highly desired. * Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Status. * Demonstrable experience in the use of analysis results to prepare summary tables for minimum margin of safety and fracture control disposition is highly desired * Ability to use the English language for: * Reading * Writing/Produce written English work * Oral communication/Speaking English * Knowledge required to read, interpret and analyze block, schematic and wiring diagrams, blueprints and technical publications * Must possess good organizational and prioritizing skills * Proven track record working in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), as well as any applicable Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Health and Environmental plans, policies and procedures. * Proficiency in troubleshooting techniques; safe laboratory practices * Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : Essential/Typical Duties : * Interpret engineering CAD drawings and models to establish material properties to be used in analysis. * Uses CAD FEA (e.g., NASTRAN) tools to analyize multiple load cases, vibration, or transient analysis * Examines linear and nonlinear behavior of materials, joints, and geometry for metals and non-metals and determines deisgn stress. * Prepares free-body diagrams to depict load cases * Analyze fasteners for combined axial, shear and/or bending loads. * Calculate axial forces in fasteners due to thermal expansion and contraction. * Determine fasteners min and max preloads. Non-Essential Duties : * Other related assignments and duties, as required.
