ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri is a regional disaster and hunger-relief network that brings together community resources to share tens of millions of pounds of food with neighbors each year. Our highly-collaborative team believes that empowerment, education and partnerships are key to getting food into the hands of those who need it most. With the help of 145 partner agencies, nearly 200 school partners and more than ten thousand volunteers annually, our day-to-day efforts help feed approximately 100,000 neighbors each month across our 32-county area. POSITION SUMMARY: This key member of a highly collaborative Executive Team will help the organization navigate the changing financial landscape so we can best use our resources to feed neighbors now and into the future. This position plays a key role in planning the strategic direction of the organization.




JOB QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Have a Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • CPA certification preferred or equivalent work experience in auditing or accounting

  • Be highly organized and detail oriented

  • Be familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and not-for-profit accounting

  • Possess supervisory experience

  • Be proficient in computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

  • Be willing to work with industry specific accounting software and database

  • Be able to work with a variety of people

  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Be able to work in a dynamic team environment

  • Have adaptability as a key characteristic

  • Have excellent customer service skills for internal and external stakeholders

  • Be able to manage multiple tasks at once

  • Be sensitive to the needs of low income people

  • Work closely with the Development team for reporting and financial data collection

  • Work closely with Human Resources to understand best practices, regulations and payroll processing



ACCOUNTING JOB DUTIES:



  • Maintain computerized bookkeeping system including industry specific accounting software

  • Provide timely and accurate financial statements

  • Proficient in bank reconciliation

  • Maintain bookkeeping records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and IRS guidelines

  • Maintain fund balance accounts for restricted funds

  • Maintain budgets and provide reports for President and CEO, Board of Directors, Executive Team, Development Team, and Grants Department

  • Serve as the liaison with all banks and vendors with Food Bank accounts

  • Lead annual audit preparation efforts and work with CPA firm as directed

  • Handle all financial reporting for Government contracts



ORGANIZATIONAL JOB DUTIES:



  • Play an active role in the Executive Team for The Food Bank

  • Supervise Director of Finance and Director of Foundation Relations and Grants

  • Provide guidance and support for the Grants Department

  • Provide idea generation and revenue stream development to support the mission of The Food Bank

  • Have knowledge in the areas of Strategic Planning and Financial Forecasting

  • Manage the Commercial and D&O Insurance needs of The Food Bank serving as the liaison between The Food Bank, applicable insurance companies and broker

  • Be the primary liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors

  • Utilize external resources to assist in guiding best practices

  • Provide oversight for the annual budget and investment portfolio for The Food Bank
