TIAG is now hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Arlington, VA full time at the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This position requires a Secret clearance to start work, so US or Naturalized Citizenship is a requirement. This position is hybrid- reporting onsite up to 3 days per week. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day infrastructure operations in both the on-premises data center and the cloud environments (AWS primarily) as well as for the design, implementation, documentation, and troubleshooting of the enterprise server environment. The Senior Systems Engineer must have the ability to manage server infrastructure related problems, performance, and capacity as well as work hand-in-hand with the Network Engineers on network infrastructure issues impacting the enterprise environment. Responsibilities for this role are across both the on-premises environment and cloud (AWS primarily) to include: * Provides expert technical support, administration, and engineering on all Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. * Monitors, performance tunes, troubleshoots, and resolves systems problems to ensure system availability. * Performs changes to OS, databases, applications, servers, storage, network, and backups in production and development environments (on-prem and cloud). * Engineers/assists in developing solutions aligned with security, uptime and performance. * Works with server patch management processes and procedures to facilitate deployment. * Manages small to large operations projects in a cross-functional environment. * Anticipates future network requirements, and researches and analyzes emerging technologies and applies them to business needs. * Provides for the management, testing and installation of security patches and cyber security products. * Helps prepare plans for development and installation of server according to present and future requirements. * Maintains systems integrity through change control and problem management procedures and communication with internal customers. * Provides infrastructure architecture recommendations. * Provides insights and recommendations based on industry best practices and cutting technology. * Develops and provides recommendations for technical refresh efforts and opportunities to improve capability while driving down costs through opportunities such as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Hyper-Converged Infrastructures, automated patch management, and balancing as-is infrastructure with to-be requirements. * Attends and participates in team meetings, training sessions, and company sponsored programs as required. Required qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field * Minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively more difficult experience related to system/server design and administration * Active IAT Level II Certification (Sec+, CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP, or equivalent) * Must have one of the following ACTIVE Computing Environment (CE) certifications: (Server+, Linux+, AZ-104 Azure Administrator, AZ-204 Azure Developer Associate, AWS Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS DevOps Professional, VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), ServiceNow Certified System Administrator) * Active DoD Secret Clearance * Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in physical and virtual server administration and engineering (on-prem and cloud (AWS primarily)) * Advanced knowledge of and ability to use: * Hardware (hyper-converged infrastructures (Nutanix), hypervisors, blade servers, switches, routers, bridges, firewalls) * Software (multiple operating systems, virtualization software, virtual desktop infrastructure, SCCM/MECM, monitoring tools, IPv4, IPv6) * Other common server/network and user equipment (e.g., SAN, NAS, Video bridge) * Experience with AWS and other cloud computing environments * Excellent communication and collaboration skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team TIAG is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer that does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, religion, age, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by local, state, or federal laws, rules, or regulations.
