Join KACE and make a difference! About the Role The Congressional Correspondence Analyst/Writer analyzes and responds to Congressional and official government requests. This role involves comprehensive research, critical evaluation, and the development of clear, accurate written communications that convey the Postal Inspection Service's and Postal Service's stance on various issues. The analyst identifies critical issues, sources relevant data, integrates feedback from different Inspection Service components, and ensures high standards of accuracy and clarity in written responses. The role includes editing and revising content from other Inspection Service stakeholders, fostering field division cooperation, contributing to reports and government relations initiatives, and ensuring timely and effective communication between the Inspection Service and its stakeholders. What you will do: The position is designated to analyze Congressional and other government information requests, determine pertinent issues, and identify the type of information required. This role involves interaction with the Program Manager to determine necessary research and collect data from various functional areas related to Inspection Service and postal policies, programs, and activities. The analyst evaluates and integrates this information to develop timely and appropriate written responses that clearly explain the Inspection Service's position. The role includes editing and rewriting materials prepared by the Program Manager to ensure accuracy and effective presentation to legislative stakeholders. Approved work duties and tasks include: * Analyze requests for information to determine pertinent issues and identify the type of information required. * Determines the most appropriate sources and methods for collecting necessary information. * Researches and obtains feedback, informational materials, and data from other functional areas concerning postal policies, programs, and activities related to information requests. * Analyzes, evaluates, and integrates feedback, informational materials, and data to develop timely and appropriate responses. * Develop written responses that clearly explain and address the relevant issues and facilitate understanding of the Inspection Service's position. * Edits and rewrites materials prepared by other functional areas and ensures informational accuracy and effective presentation. * Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with field divisions to facilitate effective communication between the Postal Service and Congressional requesters. * Prepares special reports and assists with government relations initiatives. * Identifies and recommends improved and alternative methods for meeting Congressional information needs effectively. Minimum Qualifications & Skills: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND a minimum of one year of work experience as a writer, editor, correspondence analyst, or similar role are required. Knowledge and/or experience working within the Legislative Branch is preferable. * Knowledge of the English language, including composition, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, at a level sufficient to write correct responses. * Ability to analyze highly complex and critical written inquiries, such as Congressional inquiries, to determine core issues and information needed to respond. * Ability to write a logical and factual explanation of the organizational position on various issues, incorporating information obtained through research. * Ability to manage workload to meet established standards and support department response turnaround objectives. * Ability to research information necessary to prepare responses and reports, including identifying the most appropriate sources and methods to gather the information. * Ability to communicate orally and in writing with other functional areas at a level sufficient to obtain information necessary to develop written responses.
