Let’s work together.Job Summary:The Sr. Director Corporate Finance and Accounting is a leader in the Corporate Finance and Accounting (CFA) division who is responsible for leading, building and maintaining a high functioning team of finance and accounting professionals. This role will have oversight over our corporate and technical accounting and will be responsible for the management of key accounting and reporting functions including monthly close and consolidation and management reporting. This role will collaborate with other CFA and corporate leaders on understanding and implementing new accounting and regulatory standards.* Candidates residing in Pacific Time Zone are ?highly preferred.*Principal Duties & Responsibilities:Supervise, train, develop, guide, and mentor junior accounting professionals to help them grow and advance in their technical accounting careers. Lead and direct the accounting team in all facets of financial accounting and reporting to ensure complete and accurate financial data through effective internal controls. Supports financial transactions by reviewing and approving complex accounting activities; making decisions based on research; providing guidance to others on technical issues; and communicating and resolving complex issues. Provide support the Assistant Controller in developing and maintaining a department mission, vision, and culture to obtain the desired results for the organization. (40%)Develop and maintain effective and responsive communication with team members and key stakeholders to ensure timely identification and understanding of critical performance factors. (20%)Lead work on the Corporate Insurance Program in coordination with the Controller and Assistant Controller and our insurance broker to track and analyze exposure developing recommendations to efficiently and cost-effectively mitigate and control risk. Manage the annual insurance renewal process for all lines of coverage. (20%)Participate in enterprise-wide initiatives regarding finance and accounting, including but not limited to requirements from the company’s parent company to comply with new Japanese regulations.  Participate in high-priority projects, including analyses supporting M&A, reinsurance, and other investment decisions. (20%)Skills and Background You’ll Need:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Masters of Accounting, MBA, and/or related advanced degree (preferred).?Experience:8+ yrs. progressive financial management experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. (10+ yrs. preferred)CPA, CMA or MBA preferredExperience working in financial accounting, planning and analysis, management reporting, regulatory reporting and supervisory experience, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. Comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating, and implementing change in a rapidly changing environment. Experience leading multiple teams, motivating and inspiring ideas and innovation, problem solving with an out of the box way of thinking, and the ability see the value in the information provided and to inspire others to make use of it.  Experience in complex areas of accounting including financial instruments, derivatives, insurance contracts, business combinations, reinsurance, and revenue recognition. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year.
