Overview We are seeking a highly qualified AI Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Dean of Faculty (DF) in advancing the academic and research mission. The selected contractor will provide expert guidance on AI technologies, strategies, and integration within a quasi-university environment founded on military standards. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assess current and future AI and AI-related cybersecurity technologies, methods, and uses for academics and research. * Advise the Dean of Faculty on AI academic and research policy, strategy, and architectural matters. * Act as the Dean's AI coach and liaison to the faculty, facilitating broad AI curriculum and research experimentation, adoption, integration, and implementation. * Deliver draft assessments and recommendations quarterly and at specified periods. * Aid the Dean of Faculty in drafting an academic and research AI strategy within the first 4 months, ensuring alignment with institutional and federal policy and goals. Integrate university and research center best practices and lessons learned. Assist in updating and maintaining the AI strategy throughout the period of performance. * Provide training and coaching seminars and collaborations with departments at least monthly. Seminars can be formal while collaborations can be informal and ad hoc at the needs of the departments. * Assist in the experimentation, implementation, and adoption of AI-centered technologies and methods into the classroom, lab, and research activities. Recommend technology configurations, cybersecurity implementations and mitigations, and cybersecurity approvals. Serve as a liaison between departments and other mission elements, facilitating cross-discipline integration and use of AI technologies and methodologies. REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to work in a high operations tempo environment. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications. * Minimum 10 years of experience: * Working with AI technologies, including algorithms, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. * As an AI architect and in developing AI policy and strategy for a large institution. * Strongly desired: Experience in a university and/or research environment and using AI in various disciplines. * Experience in AI/ML infrastructure design and training members in AI/ML technologies. * Minimum of a Master's degree in computer sciences with an emphasis on AI, ML, AI/ML infrastructure, and cybersecurity. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel may be required, with at least 4 trips within the USA. Travel costs will be negotiated with the Government and may involve travel with government/military and other contractor personnel.
