MAJOR FUNCTION

Develops material requirements, prepares supplier delivery schedules, and schedules material as needed to ensure parts are ordered to meet the production schedule. Plant contact to supplier and subcontractors to maintain delivery plan. Expedites late orders while maintaining optimum inventory levels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

INVENTORY CONTROL/PARTS REQUISITION     

  • Develops material requirements using SAP and/or other advanced information. 

  • Prepares requisition orders specifying quantity and scheduled delivery dates utilizing the desired inventory level policies.

  • Analyzes ordered parts and initiates adjustments to purchase orders in keeping with established order policies. 

  • Adjusts any purchase orders affected by engineering drawing and bill of material changes as directed by management.

EXPEDITING OF MATERIALS                                             

  • Coordinates transportation activities with regards to critical parts while maintaining optimum cost and time parameters.

  • Coordinates information and delivery on new production parts for prototype and new product builds. 

  • Supports plant Kanban program with analysis of usage, suitability of potential vendors and parts for inclusion in the program.

COMMUNICATION/PROBLEM-SOLVING               

  • Coordinates the activities required remedying parts shortages caused by tooling delays, equipment deficiencies, supplier delivery constraints, and/or other related issues. 

  • Works directly with Quality Control as concerns arise.

  • Works with Sourcing, Quality, and Receiving to return rejected or damaged inventory to the supplier.

  • Interacts with production supervisors and production schedulers on parts availability. 

  • Maintain open communication with suppliers of production parts. 

  • Perform other assigned duties directed by management.

SAFETY                                                                      

  • Ensure that all safety rules and programs are followed and maintained within the assigned area of responsibility. 

  • May assist in the development of plant safety rules and programs as required.

JOB DIMENSIONS

  • Interpersonal working relationships with multi-levels of employees and management, including Production, Engineering, Quality Control, Purchasing, and Toro Corporate. 

  • Regularly interacts with Toro suppliers to order and expedite materials on a timely basis. 

  • Provide product/schedule information and coordinate/resolve situations. 

  • Make daily independent decisions under general supervision. 

  • Often works under pressure to meet schedule changes, deal with parts emergencies and outages, or deal with unforeseen delivery problems.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Two year post high school education from a vocational technical school or college in business administration, accounting, or related field; or

  • Minimum of 2 years direct experience in inventory control, materials management, or traffic operations.
