Summary

The Litigation Associate will support a busy civil defense practice focused on tort litigation, insurance coverage, construction disputes, and commercial matters. The role is designed for early-career attorneys seeking accelerated hands-on experience, including depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation. The firm maintains a balance of complex, high-stakes cases and smaller matters that provide strong training opportunities and increasing responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support litigation matters from intake through resolution

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal correspondence

  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategy with senior attorneys

  • Take and defend depositions (with increasing independence over time)

  • Participate in hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations

  • Support trial preparation, including exhibits, witness prep, and case summaries

  • Interface with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel

  • Assist with insurance coverage analysis and related litigation matters

  • Maintain case files and ensure deadlines and court requirements are met

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active membership in good standing with the Georgia Bar (or ability to obtain promptly)

  • 1–4 years of litigation experience preferred (civil defense strongly preferred)

  • Exposure to tort litigation, insurance defense, or commercial disputes is a plus

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage multiple active matters and deadlines

  • Willingness to engage in courtroom and deposition work early in career

  • Strong professional communication and client-facing skills

  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work in a team-driven environment
