Summary
The Litigation Associate will support a busy civil defense practice focused on tort litigation, insurance coverage, construction disputes, and commercial matters. The role is designed for early-career attorneys seeking accelerated hands-on experience, including depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation. The firm maintains a balance of complex, high-stakes cases and smaller matters that provide strong training opportunities and increasing responsibility over time.
Responsibilities
Manage and support litigation matters from intake through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal correspondence
Conduct legal research and develop case strategy with senior attorneys
Take and defend depositions (with increasing independence over time)
Participate in hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Support trial preparation, including exhibits, witness prep, and case summaries
Interface with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel
Assist with insurance coverage analysis and related litigation matters
Maintain case files and ensure deadlines and court requirements are met
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with the Georgia Bar (or ability to obtain promptly)
1–4 years of litigation experience preferred (civil defense strongly preferred)
Exposure to tort litigation, insurance defense, or commercial disputes is a plus
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple active matters and deadlines
Willingness to engage in courtroom and deposition work early in career
Strong professional communication and client-facing skills
Collaborative mindset with ability to work in a team-driven environment
