Registered Nurse/ Licensed Practical Nurse

Full-Time 40 hours) Johnston, RI

General Responsibility: To perform basic duties related to overall patient services at the Tri-County Community Action Agency. The nurse works under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, and Medical Director. The nurse provides clinical and technical support for the Primary Care Providers. He/She triages patient phone calls providing advice and health care information or coordination and prioritization of sick visits on an as needed basis, based on patients self-reports or needs. The nurse acts as a resource person for Medical Assistants/Receptionists providing support and guidance regarding patient’s medical/health care needs. The nurse is responsible for administering injections on an independent basis with established standing orders and in accordance with Tri-County policies and procedures. He/She must ensure the security of all medications by logging, tracking and disposing as necessary. He/She participates in Family Planning education. He/She maintains logs for quality assurance. The staff RN must be able to perform and assume whatever major role is required or assigned that day.

Specific Responsibilities:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Participating in in-service, orientation, committee, supervision and staff meetings.
Attending relevant training/conferences as requested/directed by the Health Center Director, Medical Director, Chief Operating Officer, or President/CEO (this may require out-of-state travel).
Supporting the mission of the Tri-County Community Action Agency and the Health Center in the community by acting as a liaison between the Health Center and wider health professional community.
Maintaining daily logs, monthly inventory and ordering birth control supplies, antibiotics and other medications and vaccines.
Monitoring the Health Center Emergency kit on a monthly basis and order supplies as needed (e.g. O2).
Completing yearly Environment of Care review to ensure safety with sharps.
Completing and submit annual enrollment form (SSV) to KIDSNET (Rhode Island Pediatric Vaccination Registry/Database).
Monitoring Vaccine Information Sheets (VIS) for updated publications.
Inventorying vaccines monthly, and place orders with Rhode Island Department of Health for pediatric and adult vaccines.
Working with the human resource department and other agency departments to ensure that employees are up to date with vaccines and PPDs. Ensure documentation is forwarded to Human Resources.
